The 2012 season is off to a positive start for the Mullumbimby Giants RLFC with the signing of former NRL, NSW State of Origin and Australian Kangaroo representative Graham 'Wombat' Eadie.
With a wealth of young talent eager to put their stamp on the NRRRL competiton and former players (MOB) supporting the Mullumbimby Rugby League Club nursery, Mullumbimby is now moving into a new era of Rugby League Development in the valley.
Mullumbimby has always fielded a team in the rugby league competitions in the region since 1908. The following quote was taken from the booklet 50 years of Tweed Rugby League by Tom Hogan...
"It is known for certain that Mullumbimby were in existence in 1903, and were probably formed in 1900.
Mullumbimby has always fielded a team in either the Tweed or Brunswick districts. They are a club with a distinguished and proud record of service.
Like Seagulls they would be one of the oldest clubs of any code in Australia. In the early years Mullumbimby travelled to Burringbar, Tumbulgum, Chinderah and Tweed Heads."
With this depth of tradition running through the club since 1908, we welcome Graham Eadie as a fellow Mullumbimby Giant and encourage him to add his part to the already impressive club history.
Go the Giants in 2012 !
